This is a really simple idea to make an easy timeline. I have kept putting off making a time line because I don't want to cut out lines of coloured paper and we don't have the room really to stick it all up on the wall. But this looks quick and easy. Just a string hung on the wall with paperclips used to hold the pictures on to it. As soon as I can get some nails in the wall our time line is going up!

Has a post on making folders to hold 3 part cards. I think she is right when she says "I believe organization is very important in a Montessori classroom so that you are able to find your materials easily for rotation. You also want to set a good example for the children and not have their materials strewn all over the place! It will help them develop a respect for the materials and work." When things are organized it is much easier for us and children to find and use the materials and I think that they also appreciate and take better care when they see you doing the same.

A friend asked me for a planner for homeschooling so I though I might as well put all my links here so I don't have to hunt for them again!

My favourite planner (sort of school and sort of homemaking and a great diary) is from Graham Family Ministries it is called 'The Intentional Planner' They release a new one each year. It does cost but it is not much and I think it is well worth it.

Donna Young is the place to go for free forms of all sorts - I always use her calendars when ever i need a calender for my diary. Here is her page that links to a homeschool planner.

Magnetic Alphabet

I made up a magnetic alphabet for the kids. It is focused on them learning the letter names and learning to put the alphabet in order. They can line it up on the white board and using the THRASS alphabet rap song learn the letter names.

When we first used it the white board was not up so we used the fridge. I found the magnetic paper in the $2 shop. It cost me paper, ink, laminating sheet and $2 magnetic paper. Pretty cheap resource.

Here are the girls enjoying it for the first time. They wanted me to take a photo of them after they had put it all in order. The white board was not up yet so we used the fridge. It should be in a single row but the fridge is not long enough.

I made up a little card that says Put the alphabet in order on the white board. I put the letters in a bag with the card and here is an alphabet workbox activity.
